Cryo Transmission Electron Microscope with enhanced productivity and compact design



The new Thermo Scientific Krios G4 Cryo Transmission Electron Microscope (Cryo-TEM) enables you to unravel life at the molecular level—easier, faster, and more reliably than ever before. The most compact TEM in its class, the Krios G4 Cryo-TEM consists of a highly stable 300 kV TEM platform and the industry-leading Autoloader (cryogenic sample manipulation robot), making it ideally suited for automated applications such as single particle analysis (SPA)cryo-electron tomography (cryoET) and micro electron diffraction (MicroED). Through a thorough redesign of the mechanical base frame and system enclosure, the microscope height has been reduced to below 3 meters, which allows for instrument installation in labs with a ceiling height below 3.04m (~10 ft), thereby avoiding costly room renovations. Designed-in connectivity ensures a robust and risk-free pathway throughout the entire workflow, from sample preparation and optimization to image acquisition and data processing.

Cryo-EM productivity

Automated alignment routines ensure the microscope is tuned to its optimal starting point for data acquisition, which itself is accelerated up to 4x through the use of aberration-free image shifting along with the ability to collect more images per hole via a fringe free mode. Additionally, acquired data can be evaluated through on-the-fly monitoring of data quality and optimizing acquisition parameters as needed.


iSPA Workflow, the first pharma-dedicated solution for single particle analysis

The Thermo Scientific Krios Rx Cryo-TEM is the flagship of the iSPA Workflow, the first pharma-dedicated solution for single particle analysis (SPA) and structure-based drug design. This high-end microscope is optimized for the drug discovery process with a throughput of over 400 high-quality images per hour. The Krios Rx Cryo-TEM is configured for SPA only with a fixed voltage (300 kV), and comes standard equipped with a Falcon 4 detector. The simplified workflow with next-level EPU automations, including unattended multigrid data collection, makes it ideal for non-expert microscopists. The pharma-dedicated service package ensures the highest productivity and reliability with a 90% system uptime guarantee.

With a height less than 3 meters and an active vibration dampening system, the microscope fits in a standard room allowing easy installation and avoiding costly room renovations. The automated and programmable loading door also enables compatibility with robotic sample loading in the future.

Selectris and Selectris X Imaging Filters

Designed for stability and speed, the Thermo Scientific Selectris and Selectris X Imaging Filters are post-column imaging filters that improve the contrast of TEM images, resulting in high-resolution structures up to atomic resolution. Paired with the latest generation Thermo Scientific Falcon 4 Direct Electron Detector, Selectris Filters enable you to obtain high-resolution structures quickly, revealing new biological insights. To further increase the productivity and ease-of-use of your cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) research, these filters are fully integrated into Thermo Scientific EPU SoftwareThermo Scientific Tomography Software, and instrument operation software. The Selectris and Selectris X Imaging Filters are available on Thermo Scientific Krios and Glacios Cryo-TEMs.
